While we celebrate success in getting 76% voter turnout in Kotia panchayat elections by Odisha , I would like to offer my gratitude to all those candidates who had refused to bow down to the pressure to withdraw their nomination so as to select someone in the closed four walls rather than elect in the open air of wonderful Nature from Ward member , Samiti member to Sarpanch and ZP member .Just imagine if there were no elections how could the aspirations in the voters to cast their vote in a democracy could have been translated in to reality .Voters could enjoy elections .Great turnout in Kotia is the victory of all the candidates who had refused to leave the contest .Long live the spirit of participatory Democracy.
