In order to bring better income and nutritional security to the small and marginal farmers of the Koraput district, Pragati Koraput with the support of NABARD and EdelGive Foundation is promoting the cultivation of Gl-tagged Koraput Kala Jeera rice in Jeypore, Borigumma, Kotpad, Kundra, Koraput, Nandapur, Lamtaput, Baipariguda and Semiliguda blocks of Koraput district. The farmers have started transplanting of Kalajeera rice in the SRI method using organic practices in their lands. Pragati is encouraging the farmers to cultivate this indigenous rice variety and providing input support to the farmers through improved agronomy to enhance productivity as well as value addition, branding, and marketing of Kalajeera rice through the FPCs.
